Responsible to: Chair and Board of Trustees

Duration: The appointment will be for an initial term of 3 years with the potential to extend up to 2 further terms

Commitment: It is anticipated that up to 1 day per month will be required on average taking into account preparation for Board and committee meetings

Location: Our Head Office is in Liverpool and in future Trustees will be able to attend in person or through Zoom/Teams dependent on their preference

Remuneration: The appointment is unpaid, although reasonable expenses will be reimbursed

Safeguarding: A DBS clearance will be required

Responsibilities

  • To ensure Career Connect operates efficiently and effectively to fulfil its mission

  • Contribute actively to the Board’s role in shaping strategy

  • Hold the executive to account for delivering Career Connect’s strategy

  • Maintain an independent judgement in governance of the Charity avoiding conflicts of interest

  • Ensure the effective management and reporting/disclosure of financial reports and controls

  • Ensure sufficient resources for the Charity’s operations

  • Galvanise support for the mission within the wider community and own network, and act as an ambassador for the mission

  • Prioritise attendance at Board meetings and where it is not possible to attend, make best endeavours to communicate to the Company Secretary her/his contributions and recommendations arising from the Board papers in advance of the meeting

  • Assess the performance of the Board on a regular basis, ensuring we build a high performing team
